2021 OLOA Day eight

Group picture at the Hotel, then off to the Tire Rack for the final dry skid pad event. What a great week with some obstacles but nothing that could not be overcome.

Our overall position before the wet skid is 50th with a large point spread to the 49th position. For the final event finished 29th and we pulled an average of 1.008g with the overall winner being 1.141g dry skid pad breaking the record that had been held for 10+ years.

For the sith year entered we have now won the Vintage class and our overall position for the end of the event was 48th.

Thanks to all who helped and followed us along our journey.

A SPECIAL THANKS to my uncle Herman for supporting and make memories that will not be forgotten, and thanks to Sandra and Michelle for keeping down the fort while we are away.

2021 OLOA Day seven

We made it to Gingerman a little overcast and a bit damp at first but dried out nicely.

We did pretty well for the first session, a little timid just as I don't remember the track real well, but did finish 34th overall for the first session.

The second session was a little different story. I pulled a real rookie mistake and hit some of the curbing on cold tires on the out lap. I spun the car into a side dirt barrier. No real damage other pride and losing 20 pounds of air pressure in the right rear tire. I stayed in line and went through our 3 lap run with only 10 lbs of air. To say the least, left turns were not very fun. Even with all that we still finished 46th overall.
One more day to go for the 2021 OLOA season and one more event.

2021 OLOA Day six ( back in the hunt )

Back in the hunt and made it to Summit Point WV.
Thanks Mike DuSold from Dusolddeign in Lewisville TX.

We finished 29th in the first session and 31st overall in the second session.

We load up for the last long haul to Gingerman MI.

2021 OLOA Day five ( for most )

For most 2021 One Lappers, they were in Atlanta while we grabbing a couple hours sleep in Texarkana. Just a 16 hour drive for us to make to Summit Point West Virginia, this is One Lap.

Oh by the way did I mention we loose an hour due to the time line?

2021 OLOA Day four ( for most )

Day four if the 2021 One Lap for most started at New Orleans, for us it started with rangling parts we need to get us fixed 1200 miles from the next event we had a chance for Atlanta.

Our clutch master cylinder arrives and IT'S WRONG....

Thanks Advance.

Joey from Dusolds made a phone and got us one from O'reilly's after lunch but our low hanging fruit assumption was wrong.
We still have issues so we will have to go all the way in and we found the culprit.

Thanks to Mike Joey and all the guys at Dusolds for helping us get back on the road. Late is better than never.

When we hit the road we realize we now have 16 hours of drive time.

2021 OLOA Day three

A hot day in Texas, at a really cool club track. Outstanding people, super clean, new pavement, tons of elevation changes, great pavement and curbing, only one thing, I have not clue where I'm going. The recon lap didn't help much on either session.
From last night's transit drive we were stuck in traffic and clutch didn't seem too happy so I was concerned about it and not sure we were going to be able to take off from our dead start after the recon laps. We made it through both sessions 1st in class and 42nd and 40th overall. Zero time on track really makes a difference.

After our sessions, I went to back in to our pit spot and our clutch issue gets worse.

After some soul searching and pre diagnosis we started calling parts suppliers and checked with locals at the track for a transaxle just in case. We called Mike DuSold in Lewisville TX about an hour away and he was awesome to get us in to help us out with a lift and help.

We try to limp it to www.DuSoldsdesigns.com but didn't make it. After a six hour wait for a tow truck we finally make it the last 14 miles after midnight. A sort Lyft ride to the hotel and we will figure out what's wrong tomorrow morning.

2021 OLOA Day Two

Day two had pending weather coming in and it does not fail to arrive. Due to rain it was not safe to run the road course as there is VHT traction compound on the straight part of the track that they use for drag racing. When water gets on the track on the traction compound, you can't walk on it much less race on it wet.

To remedy this, the shorter SCCA version track-cross was used from pit exit to the end of the back straight away. All cars got three runs, two somewhat dry and one wet run. As the rain got worse the the higher number cars got to okay in even more water.

Our first run was ok although I did totally miss one of the corners coming in too hot on the recon lap which made the timed run more cautious than it should have been.

The second run I tried to make up for it and totally messed up, and blew two corners. The third was in a driving rain, and let's just saw we survived with no nannies, aka, PSM ABS or Traction control. All the thing that money can buy.
Standings after day two 1st in class and 42nd overall.

Memphis in the rear view.

On the Dallas TX for Eagle's Canyon.

2021 OLOA Day One

Day One / part one starts with the skid pad at Tire Rack.

Not bad, we will take it. 1st in class and tied for 26th overall in wet skid.

Part two is the auto cross. Shorter course than usual. We finished 1st in class and 44 overall.

Day Eight 2019 One Lap of America Tire Rack Dry Skid Pad

Well we made it. Not pretty, but we're here.

After a 20th place finish overall in the skid pad, we will call this year's One Lap done.

Day seven 2019 One Lap of America

The Poorvette at the Corvette Museum, gotta love the irony in that. One word, inconsistent. The finishes were 56, 23, and 32 overall.

It's time to lick our wounds and make the treck back to South Bend.

Day six 2019 One Lap of America at Blackhawk Farms Raceway

After a little bout withe some dampness we trudged through Blackhawk with a 32 & 36 place finish overall. Not our best showing but better than some.

Day five 2019 One Lap of America Motorsports Park Hastings

Old is cool, until it's not.....

Well Hastings was a bust for us at the track but we did get to spend some time with some family in the morning. Thanks Ben and family for letting us us his lift to get the Poorvette back in shape in the AM and at least ride to the track in the pooring rain and watch. A DNS for us on both sessions but we will move on to the next track in a lot better shape.

Day four 2019 One Lap of America at Brainerd International Raceway

Bainerd was a beautiful day for racing. The first session was not too bad with 26 place overall finish but the second session was a way different story. After one and half laps in the rear car felt just wrong, way off and noises no one should hear on the track. We had a bolt failure that could have been a catastrophe, although we limped around for a 43rd place finish overall. After a mad scramble of wrenches thrashing, we we scrambled to get the car somewhat back to to make our Drag race passes done and on the road.  Wow what a day.

Day three 2019 One Lap of America at Road America

Day three started out promising incoming weather and it did fail. With the chance of rain we rented a garage to keep dry. Smart on our part.

The wet morning session took a few prisoners. M2 Z06 and GT-R.

It was like ice dancing with no nannies then on top of that the wipers don't do anything above 80 mph. Even with that we made the session unscathed even thought we had a slow time due to a hard wave caution flag for a spin in front and not being able to get a clean pass in.

The second session was much better, finished 1 at in class and 17th overall

Next for a 7 plus hour road trip to Brainard Minnisota.
