2014 Day 7 GingerMan Raceway

Rain and wind

Rain and wind with more wind.

Welcome to Michigan.

As the first cars pull out in the pouring rain everyone is doing their best just to stay on track. We go oit as the rain stopped but oir float pontoons for tires had no grip and yet another spin, this time in turn 3 and more points to be lost.

As the first session continues the rain slacks off and the track starts to dry as the back of the pack gets dry track their times are a lot faster than the front runners making for a mass switch up in the points run. The front runners were in the pouring rain and where we are running on wet and the last half of the field got to run in the dry.  That's just how it rolls with weather in One Lap, some tomes you win and sometimes you loose.

Results for GingerMan Raceway

Session 1- 3rd in class and 45 overall. (Spin on lap lap in turn three. Had to be the slickest track in the wet I have ever seen! The pavement had polished riverstone in it.)

Session 2- 3rd in class and 25th overall

Both session started in the wet but ended in the dry. It was definitely a day for AWD, and I'm sure the beards helped somehow.

2014 Day 6 Mid Ohio & Passage Control at DEI

Houston we have a problem.

We pull into the garages at Mid Ohio on a beautiful Thursday morning and get unloaded and White Trash prepared as we do at each track. We had earlier had a slight issue but nothing too serious with out looped transmission cooler that was bent and had started rubbing on our right rear coil over spring on the suspension.
In an effort to help the problem and try to move the transmission cooler away from the suspension so we could pit some protection on the cooler to prevent further damage, we proceeded to break the cooler in half........

So the scramble begins and the the loan of a 5/8" heater hose and our cutting wheel and grinder we had a repair done and barely ready to get in line. Thanks the the Honda Odyssey team for the hose.

Results for Mid Ohio

Session 1

1st in class 19th overall

Session 2

4th in class and 43 overall. (Oops) spin in turn 1 video to follow...

Its off to GingerMan Raceway to go play in the rain. Boy I hope that's not the case.

2014 Day 5 NJMP New Jersey Motorsports Park

Ok our luck strikes again with the best hotel room and able to get less than 2 hours of available sleep time.

We had a horrific drive to New Jersey from the BMW Performance Center. It was late late late night. We finally got in our room at 4:29am just to wake up at 6:30 to get ready for our say at New Jersey Motorsports Park NJMP.

At NJMP there two track configurations known as Thunderbolt the larger and Lightning the smaller. Seeing the facility for the first time  hard to gain a level of confidence with the Thunderbolt's  elevation changes and the closing radius carrousels on the Lightning course we felt lucky to come out with the finishing places that we have.

On a side note. Looks like our adoption papers may be getting processed from Bowling Green KY.

Results

Session 1 Thunderbolt.
1st in class
27th overall

Session 2 Lightning
1st in class
20th overall.

This moves our overall a result standings up to 22nd, just hope we can keep it up.

We are feeling OK other than being totally exhausted from our late night last night and no time to really rest today and dreading 10 hour drive we are doing now. We have both had a little stomach issue that is going around in the group ever since NOLA but seem to be feeling better now.
