2013 One Lap of America Results for White Trash the Poorvette.

Well the results are in and we have exceeded our expectations for the 2013 One Lap of America. With a main goal of just making and completing all of the events and finishing in the top thirty five we actually much much better. We won our Vintage Foreign Class again for the second year in a row.

Our overall finishing position was 26th, just 215 points behind a new 2013 Corvette ZR1 that has several years of experience of One Lap and had driven all of the tracks we were on multiple times. Not only that but the ZR1 didn't spin out in two events like I did( I will work on that one ), so we were close to a top twenty five.

In the spirit of sportsmanship I was humbled and lucky enough to be presented the George Schuster Sportsmanship Award for helping other competitors that were having car trouble during the event.

Our friends Kyle Tucker and Ryan Mathews from Detroit Speed won third place with their "Monster" and also won the Rookie of the year award.

Stay turned for more follow up for highlights and link to our track you tube videos to follow soon. I just have to figure out how to edit my spins out of them.....

Day seven complete for the 2013 One Lap of America

At the Tire Rack for the Banquet and Trophy presentations.
Getting ready to have our cake and eat it too..
Trophies and Awards ready to be handed out.

Kyle and Ryan from Detroit Speed already discussing what to do better next year.
Our picture with Glenn Dodd a legend of One Lap of America and the man we both spoke to about joining One Lap several years ago when Herman and I went to see One Lap come through to try to find out what and how to of e event.

Day seven skid pad complete

When we arrive the dry skid pad looked as though it was gong to wet but as usual when pulled out the tent it stopped raining. Got love being prepared.

With the cars lined up in reverse standing order we went out and did very well. In the dry skid pad we finished in ninth position overall in the event.

Congratulations to Leh Keen Lemans and Grand Am driver for winning his fourth consecutive One Lap of America.

Day seven ..... Tire Rack dry skid pad.

We made it. Every day and every event that was run, we even went over through to the Drag Race that was cancelled due to rain just for good measure. As we look back , this week really flew by with few problems other than the XM radio loosing signal now and a again or the auxiliary power going out on us but repaired.  White Trash did well overall, we feel we could change the oil and take off again.

What a week.

Day six of OLOA 2013 is now complete

After a nice dinner with our fellow competitors Kyle Tucker and Ryan Mathews from Detroit Speed Shop we have retired to our room early. We will have a photo op first thing in the morning at the Tire Rack and our last event for the One Lap of America the dry skid pad.

Day six in transit back to South Bend

It's early afternoon and we are in transit following the Vintage Domestic group back to South Bend Indiana for our last event the hopefully dry skid pad. By the GPS it says we will have an early arrival, maybe one more gas stop so that we will have the right amount of fuel in the car for tomorrow's event.

Day six Pittsburgh International Race Complex

We are in the greater Beaver Run area near Pittsburg and its WET...... It was raining when we left the hotel and continued to rain when we arrived at the track so we rush the the track offices to pay for a garage area to get us out of the rain, so you know what that means. It stopped raining, imagine that. It worked out to the good though the first groups that went out and helped dry the track off some but every corner was still wet when our group went out. This was a neat track though small, it was concerning when went to you tube to see posted video of the track to see that the majority of the videos posted were of Go Karts. Could of good straight always with elevation changes throughout.

The first session while still wet in the corners surprisingly still had grip till I got to turn 11, then not so much as I thought, while sliding the brakes into the turn, somehow I throttled it through 12 to see the corner worker jumping up and down with joy that I had save it and not spun. After that the next two laps went pretty easily as I did not want to have three spins in he event. There was a little drama at the end as I blew past a competitor on the main straight before going to take the checkered before entering turn one, I made sure to keep race pace and get offline far left to the apex to make sure to give him room for him to finish his last lap. We finished the first session in 29th position over all and very happy with that as we all know that White Trash does not like water. Everyone remembers that White Trash doesn't see water very often, unless its to bet its semi annual bath with its normal Scotchbrite pads and Bleach enhanced Comet Cleanser, that does by the way blend in the sporadic splotches of Rustoleum white spray paint very well by the way.

For the second session the sun partially came out and the track was nice and dry for all competitors. We started in our normal group and ran some pretty good laps but left a lot on the track as I know in did not brake deep enough in turn one and was timid in the first downhill section. Other then a delayed shift on lap two the second downhill section the track was really fun. We finished the second session in 21at place overall and 1st in Vintage Foreign, our overall ranking for the entire group moved up to 26 position overall but a full 300 points out of being able to break into the top 25, so close........but yet out of our reach

Day five done for One Lap of America 2013 , only two more Race days to go.

With VIR in our rear view mirror and after a long day we are still in transit to Beaver Run  now called Pittsburg International Race Complex and still studying the track map for tomorrow. The course is 1.53 miles with 12 turn so White Trash is not going to be a happy Poorvette. As a matter of fact she going to be a real hand full. The lack of "save me buttons"  is not going to be in our favor on this one.

The picture below is the guys from www.highladdesignstudio.com the official photographers for the event. Make sure to visit their site for pictures for all the cars and behind the scenes when the event is over.
